National Poetry Month

How would you like a poem written just for you, or for a loved one, on an old-fashioned typewriter, by real published literary poets? All of this while you peruse the astonishing shelves of Russell Books! Be sure to show up at 1pm to sign up for your original poem!

Yvonne Blomer: Saturday April 11th: Yvonne Blomer was the 4th poet laureate for the City of Victoria and has published a cycling memoir and six books of poetry, most recently Death of Persephone: A Murder (Caitlin Press). She lives on the territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking people in Victoria, BC. She has edited three water-focused, eco-poetry anthologies, Sublime: Poems for Vanishing Ice is the latest.

I live and write univited on the homelands of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples (also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations), and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples (also known as the Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum and Malahat Nations). Their teachings have persevered for untold generations and their stewardship of the land continues to this day. I'm deeply grateful and offer my thanks: həyšxʷq́̓ə siiem  (thank you honorable ones).
